BROOKLYN, New York, March 5, 2011 - First and second generation Grenadians in New York will showcase
their talents at Youth Fest – the final
event marking celebrations to observe Grenada’s 37th Anniversary of
Independence.
Youth Fest
2011 will be held on Sunday March 13 at St Gregory the Great School at 991 St
Johns Place (Between Brooklyn and New York Avenues, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Youth Fest
was originally scheduled for January 29 but was rescheduled because of a snow
storm which affected New York.
Merle
Clarke, Chair of the Grenada Independence Anniversary Committee of New York
said that the event will showcase traditional music, dance, poetry, trivia and modeling
among the Grenadian youths.
“We expect
to experience a fusion of talents from our young Grenadians, some who were born
of Grenadian parents,” Clarke said.
Grenada
celebrated its 37th Anniversary of Independence on February 7, under
the theme “Celebrating 37 years through challenging times with optimism and
resilience”.
