Grenada Day 2011

NEW YORK, March 3, 2011 - Organisers of the Grenada Day celebrations in New York are inviting mas bands in Grenada to showcase their sketches and or costumes at the Grenada Day Festival in July.
GRENCAP United, in collaboration with the Consulate-General of Grenada in New York, have scheduled Sunday July 17, 2011 for the event at St Andrews Park (Atlantic & Kingston Avenues, Brooklyn, NY 11216).
“With a few weeks before Carnival in Grenada this is an opportunity for mas bands to show what they will be offering to masqueraders,” said Michael Vincent, Chair of the Grenada Day Committee.
He said that in addition to the mas bands the Grenada Day will also include calypso, jab jab, moko jumbie, dancers, big drum, maypole, short knee, wild Indians, and quadrille dancers.
Also on display will be foods, arts and crafts, and steelband.
Vincent described Grenada Day as an exposition of the artistic, cultural and culinary talents of Grenada.
Persons interested in participating including vending and inclusion in the festival journal can contact Michael Vincent (347 623 9381), Gloria Rennie, Val Adams, Roy McKenzie or the Grenada Consulate at 212 599 0301.
