BALTIMORE, Maryland, March
10, 2011 – A United
States-based dance company has been invited to participate in the 11th
Biennial Dance Festival to be held in Grenada this year.
Connecting Vibes USA, directed by Grenadian choreographer John
McQueen, is expected to participate in the June 1-5 Dance Festival to be staged
at the Grenada Trade Centre.
McQueen said that the dance company is excited for the invitation and
views it as recognition of his talents and international reputation as a dancer
and choreographer.
“It’s an honour to be invited to this Festival which is growing in
stature because of the interest being shown by international dance companies,”
said McQueen who is also the artistic director of Connecting Vibes USA.
The Dance Festival is being hosted by the Division of Culture in the
Prime Minister’s Ministry and is aimed at showcasing the creativity of young
dancers and choreographers as well as provides a platform for the exposition of
Grenadian and Caribbean dance forms along with their international
counterparts.
The Festival has grown from being a national event to one that has
international participation having attracted Dance Companies from as far as USA
and Europe.
Connecting Vibes USA is responsible for raising funds and seeking
sponsors to cover the air travel of the dancers to Grenada.
Connective Vibes USA will hold a public launch on Saturday in the form
