Independence celebrations conclude in London


INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS CONCLUDE IN LONDON- UNITED KINGDOM

Intercessory Prayers were said on behalf of the Government and People of Grenada during Evensong held at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 10th February 2011, on conclusion of the Independence Celebrations in London, United Kingdom.

A large number of Grenadian Nationals, friends and visitors flocked to the Abbey for the Evening Choral Service under the auspices of The Very Reverend Dr. John Hall, Dean of Westminster.

The High Commissioner for Grenada HE Ruth Elizabeth Rouse was invited to read the second lesson from the eleventh chapter of the Gospel according to St. Matthew.

The High Commissioner extended thanks and appreciation to those who took the time to celebrate and to join in prayer for Grenada, many of whom have show much dedication in attending on an annual basis.

On Saturday 5th February 2011, Grenadians in the UK Diaspora welcomed the Honourable Michael D Lett, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as Guest of Honour at a Grand Banquet and Ball. Minister Lett was also invited to deliver the Prime Minister’s Independence Message.
Four Grenadian Community Groups hosted the Event namely: The Grenada Benevolent Society, The Grenada Support Group, The St. John’s (Grenada) Educational Trust) and the Grenada Voluntary Hospital Committee.
