NEW YORK, January 12, 2012 - Excitement continues among Grenadians in the New York area for a
match-up between Grenada's Kirani James and American Bershawn
"Batman" Jackson.
James, the
reigning World Outdoor 400m champion, and Jackson, the 2005 World Outdoor 400m
hurdles champion, will both take part in the 400m at the New Balance Indoor
Grand Prix in Boston, MA on February 4, 2012 beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET.
A number of
individuals have already purchased finish-line tickets for the Reggie Lewis
Track & Athletic Centre. They have branded section 10 (Gold) as the Grenada
posse stand. However, tickets are limited and you would need to purchase same
as soon as possible, using the link below. This is an opportunity to see James
before he heads to Istanbul, Turkey for the World Indoor Championships in early
March.
Competing
for Grenada, James burst onto the scene last summer with his gold medal in
Daegu, South Korea, and finished the year ranked No. 1 in the world in the
event by Track & Field News. At just 19 years of age, his indoor personal
best of 44.80 in 2011 makes James the third fastest man ever indoors.
One of the
top names in American hurdling, Jackson won both the Diamond League
championship and the Visa Outdoor championship in 2010. It was the same year he
won a World Indoor Championships gold medal in the 4x400m along with owning the
top 400m hurdles time and the third fastest indoor 400m time in the world.
