On this the season of giving and cheering, the Grenada Football
Association takes this opportunity to extend best wishes to all of its
Shareholders and Stakeholders. This year
was a challenging year for the GFA on the field of play.
Our Senior men’s team which participated in both the CONCACAF Gold Cup
and the FIFA 2014 World Cup Preliminaries did not enjoy much success, however
the Executive Committee believes the future looks bright for our young players.
Our Olympic team also participated in the qualifying round in Dominica and did
not qualify.
We saw our rankings move from ninety two (92) at the start of the year
to One hundred and thirty four (134) during the past twelve months. This
therefore has provided us with the impetus to start the New Year with much
vigour and enthusiasm.
We extend our best wishes to Mr. Anthony Modeste on his twenty (20)
years of service to the country as a player and Captain and wish him well on
his new ventures as a Coach.
Similarly the Executive Committee extends its congratulations to Hard
Rock, Boca Juniors and Happy Hill on winning the Premier, First and Second
Divisions respectively.
We also extend best of wishes to our General Secretariat staff,
referees, assistant referees, coaches, managers, trainers and others who
provided support in the past twelve months.
The Grenada Football Association, at this time wishes to encourage its
members and affiliates to strive for higher standards in the New Year. We shall
be focusing on five key areas and look forward to all the necessary support to
achieve our goals.
Our focus in 2012 will be on Grassroots & Youth Development, the
Goal Project, Women’s Football Development, lighting of Fond playing field in
conjunction with the Ministry of Sports as well as improvement of lighting at
Queen’s Park ground four and Club Assistant Programme which shall focus mainly
on administrative enhancement.
On this note let me wish all of Grenada best of luck during the season
of merriment, giving and forgiving.
Best Regards
Cheney Joseph
President, GFA
