CG Gumbs greets passengers on CA Inaugural Toronto-Grenada Flight


TORONTO, ON, December 15, 2011 - Grenada’s Consul General, Jenny Gumbs, was on-hand for Thursday’s ribbon cutting ceremony and to greet travelers as they boarded Caribbean Airlines’ inaugural direct flight to Grenada.
Upon check-in for the flight, passengers were met by a representative of Caribbean Airlines, who provided Grenadian flags and a small gift. The check-in desks were buzzing with activity as passengers lined up for this fully-booked flight.
Gumbs, along with representatives from the Grenada Board of Tourism, LMA Communications Inc. and Caribbean Airlines gave travelers a send off from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
“We’re thrilled about Caribbean Airlines new year-round direct flight to Grenada,” said Jenny Gumbs, Grenada’s Consul General in Toronto. It was an honour to be here today for this inaugural flight and we hope to see more Canadians visiting our beautiful island.”
Caribbean Airlines year-round direct flight will run twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays. This new direct flight will provide just one more way for visitors to get to the Grenada, ‘the Spice of the Caribbean’.

Grenada can be reached year-round via Caribbean Airlines, which just launched their twice-weekly direct flight from Toronto (www.caribbean-airlines.com). Air Canada (AC) Vacations operates a seasonal non-stop flight from Toronto to Grenada (Saturday departure with easy connections from 65 Canadian gateways available at www.aircanadavacations.com) from mid-December 2011 until April 2012.
AC operates year round daily flights from Toronto to Barbados (Saturday & Sunday departure from Montreal) with connections on LIAT to Grenada year round. West Jet operates a flight from Toronto to Barbados with connections on LIAT to Grenada year round. Charter airline, Sunwing, will have a month-long schedule of weekly direct flights beginning mid-December. Alitours is also offering year round land arrangements (www.alitours.com).
