NEW YORK, January 23,
2011 – Grenadians
Kirani James and Rondell Bartholomew are among world leaders in the 2011 Indoor
Season, according to the International Associations of Athletics Federations
(IAAF).
James heads the men’s 200 metres list with a
world-leading 20.58 seconds at
the Cherry & Silver Invitational on Friday in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The
Grenadian speedster, sophomore at the University of Alabama, also set a school
record and automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field
Championships.
Bartholomew’s
South Plains College ran fastest 4x400 metres relay time so far this season.
The quartet of Bartholomew, Anton Kokorin, Isaiah Gill and Bralon Taplin clocked
3:05.18 at the Texas Tech Invitational on Saturday.
The
time is a new NJCAA record and also the fastest recorded in the world so far
this year.
