Jason Roberts |
Skysports.com has reported that Blackburn Rovers have
opened up talks with Grenadian Jason Roberts about extending his contract.
The 32-year-old had been widely
expected to leave the club in the summer when his contract expires.
Roberts had been at loggerheads with
previous manager Sam Allardyce who had frozen him out of the team.
Leicester, QPR, Wigan and several
foreign teams had expressed an interest in signing the Grenada international
this month.
But Rovers' new manager Steve Kean
wants to retain the services of the experienced marksman.
Kean is believed to have been
particularly impressed with his professionalism during his standoff with
Allardyce.
Roberts made a return to the Rovers
side as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 win over West Brom on Sunday,
following several weeks out with a hamstring injury.
