Kirani James to face strong field at Prefontaine Classic

NEW YORK, May 17, 2012 - World 400m champion Kirani James will test his readiness for an Olympic Gold medal when he competes against a strong field at the Prefontaine Classic (Samsung Diamond League) in Eugene, Oregon next month.
James is set to pit his World Championship glory on June 2 against four other Olympic or World Championships gold medallists including the reigning Olympic Champion LaShawn Merritt of the United States; 2004 Olympic gold medallist Jeremy Wariner, also of the United States; Olympic 400m hurdles champion American Angelo Taylor; European 400m champion Kevin Borlee of Belgium; 2010 World Indoor champion Christopher Brown of the Bahamas and his fellow countryman Demetrius Pinder and South African blade runner Oscar Pistorius.
Men’s 400m: Kirani James (Grenada), LaShawn Merritt (USA), Kevin Borlee (Belgium), Christopher Brown (Bahamas), Jeremy Wariner (USA), Angelo Taylor (USA), Demetrius Pinder (Bahamas) and Oscar Pistorius (South Africa).
