LAURISTON AIRPORT RUNWAY REFURBISHMENT AND TERMINAL RENOVATION TO BECOME A REALITY

Hillsborough, Carriacou, April 1st, 2010- The Government of Grenada is still embarking on plans for the refurbishment and expansion of the Lauriston Airport in Carriacou. Finance Minister Hon. Nazim Burke, in his 2010 budget presentation, announced that $950,000 was being allocated for the airport refurbishment and expansion.
Prime Minister Tillman Thomas’ administration, through the Ministry of Works, has been in discussions with Dynamic Investment Partners and ShoreLink Services Ltd. on engaging their expertise for the project. It has now been confirmed that Dynamic Investment and Shorelink have been given permission to conduct discussions for the planning, mobilization and financing of the project. They have also been given the green light for a similar assignment for the construction of a proposed port and marina in St. Patrick. The refurbished airport in Carriacou will be named after former Prime Minister H.A. Blaize, in keeping with an election promise of the ruling National Democratic Congress.
