Redhead and Munroe sweep conference weekly honors

Virginia Beach, Va. - Bethune-Cookman University track & field picked up two weekly awards this week form the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) as Joel Redhead and Dianne Munroe earned Track & Field Performers of the Week. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon by the conference office headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va.

Dianne Munroe, a 5-foot-8 junior from Vryheid's Lust, E.C.D., Guyana, transferred into the Wildcats program for second-year head coach Garfield Ellenwood this year from the track-heavy program of Essex County College. She qualified for the NCAA Regionals with a time of 11.47 in the 100m dash at the Miami Elite Invitational.

Munroe's time is the fastest 200m time, among conference competitors, this outdoor season. The junior was also a member of the NCAA Qualifying 4x400m relay team that took home third place honors with a time of 3:14.76.

As for Joel Redhead, he came to B-CU from Grenada and is also another product of Essex County College.

This past weekend, Redhead posted a NCAA Regional qualifying time of 46.57 in the 400m dash at the Miami Elite Invitational. His time of 20.96 in the 200m dash also qualified for the NCAA Regionals. Redhead ran the second leg of the 4x100 relay that successfully captured the gold with a time of 40.95.
