GEORGE’S, Grenada, February 4, 2011 - The Executive Committee of the
Grenada Football Association (GFA) has appointed a national coach and manager
for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup Tournament.
The appointment of Mike Adams as Head
Coach and Phillip James as Manager of the national senior team followed
recommendations by the GFA's Technical Committee.
Mr Adams has replaced Franklyn 'Nat'
Simpson while Mr James retained the managerial position he held during the 2010
Digicel Caribbean Cup Tournament.
The new staff members have already
met with members of the Technical Committee and General Secretary Victor
Daniel. They have been appointed for the duration of the Gold Cup.
The national team begins preparations
for the Gold Cup which will be staged in the United States from June 3 to 25.
Grenada improved in the latest FIFA
Coca-Cola World Ranking, moving from 94th to 92nd and third in the Caribbean
Football Union (CFU) list, behind leaders Jamaica and Cuba.
